The Watkins Glen Gorge Trail is an iconic spot in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Rainbow Falls, pictured here, is another item on my photography bucket list I was excited to check out, and the penultimate sight along the gorge trail. This trip – my first one after moving to New York City – will always be special to me.
The trail itself is not particularly difficult, though slippery in wet weather. The waterfall views start almost immediately, and they don’t disappoint. The stream winds its way through a stunning gorge full of interesting rock formations. Rainbow Falls, nestled in the middle of the hike, surrounded by thick foliage and high rock walls, feels like a hidden oasis.
